Bow Lake is one of the most picturesque lakes, surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park. When I reflect on capturing this epic moment, I recall this fantastic journey to Banff, Alberta, Canada, but it didn't go as expected.
I had been planning this trip for quite some time to attend a photography workshop to capture the raw beauty of the Canadian Rockies. This destination was at the top of my bucket list, and the time had finally arrived for me to go, or so I thought. Then Covid hit, the Canadian border closed, and two more years passed before I saw these beautiful lakes and mountains.
Finally, after arriving for a 4-day journey to explore Banff, I was rewarded with this one last sunrise at Bow Lake before returning home to the USA. The vibrant, colorful sky and golden alpine glow on the mountain peaks are reflected perfectly in the crystal clear glacier-fed lake. I remember the cool Autumn morning as I stood in awe of the magnificent beauty I was witnessing. As the saying goes, “All good things come to those who wait.” The images I captured during this incredible trip are especially near and dear to me for just that reason. I hope my image titled Last Sunrise, reminds you of a particular place you have visited that is memorable. Perhaps it is the Canadian Rockies.
